Spend a Socially Distant Summer Day at Burnham Park
Looking for a little extra social distance these days? How about 650 acres of gorgeous, natural landscape dotted with attractions and recreational features? There’s no shortage of things to do and see at Burnham Park, all while you stay safe and distant from other Chicagoans this summer. Take advantage of the miles of shoreline along the lake for a beach play date, or take your bike for a leisurely ride along one of the many paved trails. You can admire the city skyline off in the distance, and also see the sun rise and set over the water each morning and night. Sounds like an urban paradise, doesn’t it? The Park also features a yacht club for boat watching, bird sanctuary, and plenty of shaded areas and benches to escape the hot summer sun.
For a little more action, head down to The Burnham Skate Park on 31st street. This free area is great if you are a skater, or just like to watch folks navigate the impressive array of jumps and ramps. Park hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and the website has plenty of information on where to park or how to access the different areas.
